Alyssia – I was nervous once too!

What was your life like prior to joining Amoskeag Fitness Co.?
I Was A Member At Another Gym Although I Wasn’t As Engaged And Was Looking For A Change.
What were your goals when you joined Amoskeag?
I Wanted To Begin To Focus Again On My Fitness And Get Into A Better Routine Of Going To The Gym.
How did you find Amoskeag?
Two Members Are Great Friends Of Mine And When I Was Looking For A Change I Didn’t Even Consider Another Gym. There Are A Number Of Other Members/Coaches Who I’ve Known For Years Through Other Crossfit Gyms Also.
What were you nervous or hesitant about before trying AFC? What has changed about that nervousness or hesitation since joining?
I Was Definitely Nervous! Change Is Hard And Walking Into A Class Where Everyone Already Knows Each Other And Has Already Formed Their Own Community Is Scary. That Nervousness Didn’t Last Too Long Everyone Was So Welcoming And It Was Easy To Feel Like I Fit In.
What made you decide to join AFC?
I Felt Comfortable With The People And The Coaching And Realized It Was Exactly The Type Of Environment I Needed.
What keeps bringing you back into AFC each day?
I See The Changes In Myself, My Overall Fitness, And My Confidence. I’ve Been Working From Home, Like A Lot Of People, Since March, And Going To The Gym Is Sometimes The Only Time I Leave The House All Day So Getting Up At 5 A.M To Go To 6 A.M. Class Every Day Has Given Me A Really Healthy Routine.
What is your greatest accomplishment since joining AFC both in the gym and outside of it?
Just Last Week I Did Fran For The First Time With Pull-Ups (Weight Was Still Scaled). I Had Never Had The Confidence To Not Scale The Pull-Up Portion Of The Workout I Had Been Terrified At How Long It Would Take Me. Finally I Just Did It. I Was So Proud Of Myself.
How does being in shape help your everyday life?
My Job Can Be Incredibly Stressful And I Know That Working Out And Feeling Healthy Helps Reduce That Stress Every Day.
What do you enjoy working on and what is your least favorite thing to work on at AFC?
I Really Like Working On Cleans, Any Ground To Overhead And Workouts Involving Odd Objects. I Don’t Enjoy Wall Balls (Not So Fun When You Are 5 Feet Tall).
What’s your favorite music to workout too?
I Like A Variety As Long As It’s LOUD
How is your life different since joining AFC?
I Went From Barely Going To The Gym 3 Days A Week To Being Consistent With 5-6 Days A Week It’s A Huge Life Change. I Feel Stronger And Healthier Both Physically And Mentally At 41 Than I Was At 30.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned from AFC?
Don’t Worry About What Anyone Else Is Doing Or What Their Score Is Focus On Your Own Win’s And Successes It’s Far More Rewarding.
What are your current and future goals?
Keeping Consistent With Going Into The Gym And Really Focusing On My Nutrition Which I’ve Been Working On With Dani Through The Gym And That Has Been A Life Changer. Just Continue To Be Healthier Mentally And Physically.
