Fed + Fit ep 112 – An Inside Look at Grass-Fed Ranching (here)
Featuring Shelly Kreuder of 2XL Premium Angus.
Some quick tidbits:
- Not all dirt is created equal. Areas not suited for row crops, think corn, kale, whatever… may do really well with Cattle.
- It takes two years to go from calf to final product. That does not seem like a terribly long time!
- The idea that all grass fed is tough isn’t true… It has more to do with the types of grass the cattle eat. A balanced diet, as in variety in the greens, make a huge difference in taste and tenderness. As does the breed of the cattle itself. 2XL is Black Angus.
- Shopping local makes no difference on the nutritional value of your beef. If you are into reducing your carbon footprint, supporting local farmers or you just like how it sounds then you should seek out farmers markets and the ranchers that attend them
This particular farmer ships nationwide. I’m trying to hunt down a discount code. For great information on The Best Kinesiology Tape check out this article from BarBend.com: https://barbend.
