Are you aware that not only does Amoskeag offer the highest quality of group class but also top notch one on one Personal Training? In fact, regardless of what program you sign up for all of our members new to functional fitness (otherwise known as CrossFit) start in a One on One setting.
After completing our fundamentals class in a private setting and getting comfortable in CrossFit class the best way to reach your highest potential is to continue with a hybrid approach taking some classes while continuing to work one on one with a coach. This allows you to get the best of both worlds, i.e. have your cake and eat it too. The group class brings great coaching, combined with high energy, high intensity workouts fueled by the community. It is this high intensity that is the magic of CrossFit. Adding on some specific one on one coaching will help you learn to move better, which will allow you to move bigger weights faster and safer which in turn increases the intensity of your group class. Now you can see how they work hand in hand.
What are the details on the benefits of personal training?
- Improve technique – You’ll have a coach beside you to demonstrate the correct posture and technique. Then they watch every rep you do. You can’t get any more attention than that. Most of the movements we do in CrossFit are technical – like the clean or the jerk. A personal training coach will help diagnose any flaws in your technique and teach you to perform the exercise correctly and efficiently, increasing performance while decreasing risk of injury.
- Set Goals and create a plan to achieve them – A personal coach will not only help you set long term and short term goals. They will also discuss a realistic timeframe in which those goals can be achieved. For example, if your goal is to do 20 pull ups unbroken but you cannot do a single strict pull-up yet, your coach will help you develop a roadmap to get you from point A to point B. Your personal trainer will also give you short term goals so you can celebrate small victories along the way.
- Correct Imbalances – Having a personal trainer watch you move in an environment where they can focus 100% on you will allow them to see muscle imbalances. These imbalances can be causing you pain currently or lead to injury in the future. Personal training can be used to prescribe corrective exercises that could decrease the imbalances which will improve performance and decrease risk of injury.
