Given the new upcoming skills, supplemental work and competitor geared training programming coming up, Coach (Officer) Dan brings up some very good points to keep in mind:
Lets call it humility training. Build the base before the roof and walls. These principles seem to be forgotten in the, “Go for a muscle up prior to a strict pull-up,” Facebook/Instagram world that so many hold dear. Learn the basics and build incrementally. Progression stands the test of time and if you are willing to do the actual work and not just the fancy things to brag about, you earn the right to move on to higher levels of skill and capacity. People need to be willing to take a step back to take two steps forward. It would be my hope that people will view this program as such and build new skills and strength in an appropriate manner and not look at it as a shortcut to success.
Lastly, I recommend we have a mailbox set up at the entrance to the gym floor with the words “Insert your ego before you step foot inside these walls.” If anyone is caught performing movements/workouts that are unsafe or inappropriate for egotistical reasons they will be asked to leave and return when they have dropped their ego inside the box. No more #RX+ the workout that was supposed to take 4-6 minutes and it took you 19:25 because you didn’t want to tuck your sac between your legs (this is specific to males only, not sure of the analogy for females) and deal with the workload with the abilities you have earned up until that point in your life. Less injuries and more humility will reap huge rewards in the long run. CrossFit is supposed to be a lifelong approach to maximizing your capacities in the physical and mental realm and there are no shortcuts here. #Crossfitbeforefacebookexisted
